Tattoo Aftercare: The First Two Weeks
09 August 2026 · Siyah İz Dövme Stüdyosu
A fresh tattoo is an open wound. How it heals decides directly how it looks years later.
The first day
Leave the covering on for as long as we tell you. Once it is off, wash the area gently with lukewarm water and unscented soap — do not scrub. Pat dry with a clean towel.
The first week
A thin layer of aftercare cream is enough; more than that stops the skin breathing. Apply two or three times a day with clean hands.
Scabbing and itching are normal. Do not scratch and do not pick — every scab you lift takes ink with it and leaves a gap.
What to avoid
No pools, sea, baths or saunas for the first two weeks. Heavy sweaty exercise and tight clothing that rubs the area can wait too.
Sun is a fresh tattoo's worst enemy. Keep it covered while it heals, and once healed, a high factor sunscreen noticeably extends the life of the colour.
