Before Your First Tattoo: Deciding, Designing, Booking
09 August 2026 · Siyah İz Dövme Stüdyosu
A first tattoo starts with more conversation than most people expect. A good result depends on a good consultation as much as a good design.
Come with an idea, not a finished drawing
The feeling you have in mind, a few references and a rough size are enough. Arriving with a finished drawing usually narrows the options; working it out together produces a design that sits properly on the body.
Taking inspiration from another artist's work, rather than copying it outright, is both fairer and gives a better result.
Choosing the placement
The same design looks and feels different on an inner arm, on the ribs and on an ankle. Areas close to bone are more sensitive, and places that move a lot take a little longer to heal.
For a first tattoo, a spot that is easy to look after makes everything simpler.
On the day
Do not come hungry, and avoid alcohol beforehand. Wear something comfortable that leaves the area accessible. Breaks during longer sessions are normal — say something when you need one.
